Abersoch Weekend Away - part 2

On Sunday morning I woke up late for me - just after 7am which meant I'd had 9 hours of blissful, restful sleep. After some tea and toast we were up and out for 8am to visit nearby Porthmadog as there is a small carboot sale on the football or rugby club (I can't remember which). The sun was shining, the air was fresh and we were rested so it was a great morning. The car boot sale was small compared to the Cheshire carboot sale but it was bigger than it usually is. I'll tell you about our finds in another post as we had some good buys and were there for nearly two hours.

We returned to the apartment for a repeat breakfast to Saturday's and were then off again to Morfa Nefyn and a walk along the length of the beach in the sunshine with the sea breeze ruffling our hair and blowing away any cobwebs. At the far end of the beach is the sheltered spot where the Ty Coch Inn sits surrounded by a few cottages. The weather was fantastic again and so it was buzzing.

Groups of friends, families and couples were sitting on the sea wall and on the beach. There were kids swimming in the sea with dogs running round chasing balls thrown for them. I loved the relaxed hustle and bustle of it all. David had a pint of larger and I had the most delicious tasting lemonade that had a hint of elderflower to it with loads of ice.

We people watched, took in the view and again chatted about nothing. We watched one large extended family start a barbecue on the beach to cook chicken and they started to open the chilled bottles of beer and wine. The children swam in the sea and played with their lovely black Labrador that was called Shadow. I love the name for this dog as it was so fitting as he followed the father around the beach begging to be played with.

A stroll back along the beach and a slow drive back to our apartment was followed by another evening out in Abersoch. This time we chose to go the Coconut Kitchen which serves Thai/Asian food. We chose a mixed starter of chicken satay, fish cakes, spring rolls and prawn toasts served with peanut and chilli sauces. David's main was a beef masa an curry and I went for a chicken Pad Thai style dish. Both were delicious and there was plenty of food as I had to leave some of mine. We ordered jasmine rice to go with both dishes.

We had a short walk around the small harbour area and were then off back to our apartment again for an early night and getting ready for going home the next day.
