Los Christianos

We decided to catch the bus further up the coast to Los Christianos yesterday. It was not as far as we thought and only cost €1.45 and took about 15 minutes. We got off at the terminal and walked down to the first of two bays which have a busy harbour in the centre separating them.

We looked around the town and window shopped. We don't want or need anything but it was lovely to look in the windows at leather goods, shoes, beautiful linen clothes and jewellry. All a bit too pricey for both of us who are used to carboot sale prices but it was good to amble around. I found a square set back from the bay with a simple but stunning church at one end. The square was surrounded with flowering trees with the most beautiful lilac purple blossom on them. I have no idea what they are.

We walked from one bay to the next and then just kept walking along the promenade and found that we could walk all the way back to Adeje along the sea front. It ended up being over a 3 kilometre walk but we enjoyed the exercise and taking in the views out to sea on one side and looking at the hotels and apartments on the other. There were some metal art installations along the way and I particularly loved the cactus shape of one.

Part way through the walk we realised it was thirsty work and stopped for cold and refreshing beers which came in a pair of glass boots. Now we know from our trips across Europe that if you get a glass boot that the beer will be expensive and it was a little pricier than other places but we had picked a lovely spot with good views so we sucked up the extra €1 price tag on each boot and boy were those beers good.

The younger part of our group had peeled off earlier to visit the Hardrock Cafe in Playa de las Americas so David and I walked most of the way back on our own but they soon caught us up and we walked the rest of the way back together. It was gone 5pm when we got back to our apartments and it felt like a long day after leaving at 10am. It was the perfect time to have my daily late afternoon swim with my dad who had stayed at the apartment for the day.

I woke this morning to the most beautiful pink sky which looked magical from our balcony. The forecast is for cloud today but apart from a few wisps it is a cerulean blue sky as usual. We plan on a busy day doing nothing today. Breakfast at the little top pool cafe, some sunbathing, reading books and swimming to cool off. The pools open at 9am and I can hear the children laughing and splashing in the water from my balcony. A lovely happy sound.

Well tomorrow is my sister's 54th birthday and we have a meal booked in Adeje old town up in the hills behind the coast. We went last year and had a great evening so tomorrow promises plenty. We still have 4 full days left before our flights home on Saturday so plenty time to enjoy ourselves.
